Smart Blast

SMART BLAST

Smartblast® works in conjunction with a mine’s Leaky Feeder system to safely provide full, two-way blast control for underground and surface applications. It utilizes technology that has over 15 years of military and commercial experience to provide safe, reliable and cost efficient blasting in the tunnelling and mining sectors. Smartblast® together with the Leaky Feeder system allows you to initiate blasts far away from the blasting site for increased safety.

Smartblast® uses the latest microprocessor and message encoding/validation technology that has been combined to provide a safe, reliable and accurate remote firing device. Smartblast® has a versatility and reliability not before seen in initiation systems.

Benefits

·         Communication via existing Leaky Feeder System eliminating additional cabling requirements for networking remote and master units, reducing installation cost

·         Mobile remote units which reduces cost implications for moving blasting areas

·         Up to 64 remote units can be connected to one master in 8 electric or non-electric groups, this allows for a expandable system deployment

·         In surface applications, units can be used with 1-5 Km ranges between master and slave units

·         Sequential firing of multiple remote units from one master is available to reduce concussion seismic impact of multi site blasting

·         Report back on blasting from remote unit to confirm blast with seismic monitoring, reducing risk of entering “charged up” areas

·         Automatic disarm timer on system ensures safe operation

·         Battery Back-Up of up to 12 hours ensures blasting capability in the event of power loss

·         Two way blast control allows the master unit to interrogate each connected remote unit for communication status, charge status, blast status etc.

·         On Board logging keeps a record of information such as unit state, post blast motion detect value, firing voltage level, battery level and the date and time the event was logged

·         Optional GPS modules for Surface applications, allows on board logging of coordinates on the unit when an event is recorded

·         Watertight unit cases with a vent for pressure equalization, allows for deployment in harsh environmental conditions
